Attending an Extraordinary Wedding | I Was Invited as a Writer

"Would you like to come to a wedding ceremony at 11am today? We need someone to write a coverage on this very extraordinary event!"

I said yes immediately, because it felt like the perfect embodiment of two things I deeply believe in:
1. The power of love
2. The way God surprises us when we least expect it

What was asked of me:
  • I was invited to attend the wedding, to witness and share in the joy, and to translate that moment into a written piece that could live beyond the room, across multiple platforms.
  • The story would also be featured in the Home’s official newsletter, reaching current and potential sponsors and donors as a reminder of the life, warmth, and dignity their support makes possible.
  • It was also important to highlight that this celebration was made possible entirely through the generosity of a Committee Member, with no donation funds used.

This is the piece I wrote for the Home, in honour of that heartfelt moment:

Love Knows No Age | Your Support Creates Extraordinary Moments at Silver Jubilee Home

She is 92 years young. He is 67. On 17 March 2026, they got married at Silver Jubilee Home.

This was not a story anyone planned. It was one that wrote itself, the way the best ones do. It was a friendship that grew over shared meals, slow mornings, and companionship, and gradually blossomed into love, because people here feel safe and cared for. In that moment, they reminded everyone what it means to feel alive.

The hall was full of people who gathered to witness this special event. There was laughter, cheers, and applause that said it all. Yes, this is what it is all for.

It was a simple and heartfelt celebration, generously sponsored by one of our General Committee members without drawing on the Home’s donation funds.

At Silver Jubilee Home, we provide fully subsidised care, meals, and accommodation for the underserved aged community. Beyond that, we want each resident to live with dignity, to feel a sense of belonging, and to know they are not alone. There is still room for new connections, new hope, and yes, even new love.

None of this happens without you. Your generosity keeps our doors open and our community strong.

When you give to Silver Jubilee Home, you are not simply making a donation. You are helping someone continue their story. You are making space for moments like this. You are saying that every life, at every age, deserves to be lived fully.

Thank you to our corporate partners, individual donors, and volunteers who made this day and every day before it possible. You are not just an audience to this story. You are part of it, where love finds a way because people like you choose to care.

With deep gratitude and a full heart,
The Silver Jubilee Home Family

Storytelling has been part of my life from a young age, when I wrote for children’s magazines and earned my first pocket money. Years later, blogging opened the door for me to pivot from retail banking into professional writing. Today, I craft both emotive stories and purposeful content for brands and organisations.

If you have a story to tell, whether professional or personal, I would love to help bring it to life.
